Pray as you begin …

Dear Jesus, help me to see you more clearly. Amen

Jesus prays at the Mount of Olives

Read Luke 22:39-62 (Click HERE to read online)

Thought: Luke 22 paints with great detail the anguish, disappointment, and betrayal that Jesus experienced. If you read through the gospel of Luke (Luke 9:21-22, 43-45; 18:31-34) it becomes clear that Jesus knew exactly what lay ahead of him including these events in Luke 22. Yet here in the garden of Gethsemane we see Jesus’ obedience and submission to His Father’s will. We see Jesus sharing His Father’s heart of grace and love for you – a heart that would lead to the cross. We have so much to be thankful for!

Points for Prayer:

· Read Philippians 21:11 – reflect on how Jesus humbled himself for you and give thanks to Jesus for his humility and obedience.

· ‘Give Thanks in all circumstances’ (1 Thess 5:18) – Does your life include giving thanks on a daily basis? Pray for eyes to see what you can give thanks for & a joyful thankful heart. (Psalm 51:12)

· How might you have the same mindset (humility) as Christ Jesus? Pray specifically about how you might ‘look to the interests’ of your church family above yourself.
